The legislative process in Bosnia and Herzegovina, at both the entity and national level, has been characterized by a remote, closed-door approach to lawmaking, which has inflamed public skepticism as to the possibility of equitable access to justice and a sustained peace.
To further build the capacity of BiH NGOs and issue-based coalitions for strategic engagement in the peace implementation process, IHRLG created a Legislative Transparency Working Group (LTWG), comprised of representatives of the Gender Equality Coalition, Persons with Disabilities Coalition, RING Anti-trafficking Network and Legal Services Coalition, and civil society experts and activists.
LTWG advocates the development of transparent parliamentary procedures and the accessibility of the legislative system to civil society, and encourages NGO testimony on proposed legislation.
