MARY LOUISE HARTMAN
Afghanistan / Pakistan Program Associate
As the IHRLG Afghanistan/Pakistan Program Associate, Mary Louise Hartman assists with the coordination and implementation of our programs with Afghan women in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Ms. Hartman joined the International Human Rights Law Group in 2002 after working for more than 15 years as a television news and Peabody Award-winning film producer. Recently, she coordinated and co-produced "Power of the Heart", honoring the courage and strength of Afghan women, shown at IHRLG's 2002 Human Rights Celebration.
During her years in television, Ms. Hartman has worked for CBS News and CNN in New York and Washington, DC, as well as for an independent production company producing award-winning documentaries for the Discovery Channel and PBS. In addition, she helped to launch and edit an on-line fiction magazine for teen-age girls, started an elementary school newspaper, and has taught journalism to elementary school children.
Ms. Hartman graduated in 1980 from Georgetown University and attended graduate school in Public Policy and Communications at Duke University.
