Democratic Republic of Congo Program Officer, Kinshasa
Jo Wells began leading the International Human Rights Law Group's technical assistance and training program in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 1999, when IHRLG re-opened our Kinshasa office. Prior to joining IHRLG, Ms. Wells was a Central Africa Campaigner at the International Secretariat for Amnesty International (AI) in London, England, where she initiated, designed, implemented and evaluated an integrated campaigning strategy on eight central African countries and served on the AI Great Lakes Region research project in Kigali, Rwanda.
She has also worked as an editor for Sudan Update, an Asylum Support Worker for the United Kingdom Immigration Advisory Service, and a Student Counsellor/Administrator for the Sudan Cultural Center (Sudan Embassy) in London. Ms. Wells holds a Master of Arts in Africa Studies from the University of London School of Oriental and African Studies and is fluent in French.
