FABIAN UGOCHUKWU OKOYE

Fabian Ugochukwu Okoye joined the International Human Rights Law Group in May 2000 to facilitate the strategic and tactical planning of IHRLG program activities in Nigeria and help promote the legislative advocacy agenda of IHRLG partner organizations. Prior to joining IHRLG, Mr. Okoye was the Director of Research & Publications, Human Rights Monitor in Kaduna. A former practicing journalist, Mr. Okoye was the Lagos City Editor of TODAY Newspaper from 1992-1993 and Kaduna Bureau Chief of MERIDIAN news magazine. He also edited Human Rights Monitor publications, namely, The Witness; Legal Rights Monitor; Equal Justice, Ethnic & Religious Rights; and Human Rights Situation Report.
He holds a Masters in International Affairs & Diplomacy from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, a Diploma in Journalism (with distinction) from the International Institute of Journalism in Abuja and a Bachelor of Arts (Linguistics) from the University of Jos.
